Planning an outing to the cinema during Chinese New Year? Here are some festive films for your consideration.

Sakra

Donnie Yen’s new wuxia film tells the journey of a courageous leader of a group who learns that he may not be who he thought he was.

The revelation puts him at odds with the other members and his loyalty is now being questioned as there are whispers that he is from a traitorous clan.

This movie is adapted from the best-selling novel, Demi-Gods And Semi-Devils by Louis Cha. (Now showing)

What! The Heist

Considering it is a Chinese New Year flick, shouldn’t it be titled Huat! The Heist?

This comedy revolves around a criminal by the name of Godfather who breaks out of jail and is put to work by his boss, Lottery Heist.

He recruits an actor to join his team where their job is to swap lotto balls in order to claim the jackpot prize of $100mil.

But when Godfather realises his boss is ready to kill him once he completes the mission, he has to come up with a different plan.

Little Sunshine

Little Sunshine is a story about a young boy who is lazy and overweight. He becomes depressed when his parents send him for extra tuition class.

However, when his parents promise him a smartphone if he does well in school, he works hard and earns the prize.

A Guilty Conscience

Looking for a serious movie this CNY? Then, check out this Hong Kong legal drama which tells of the story of an unjust case of an international supermodel suspected of abusing her daughter.

Someday Or One Day

This Taiwanese movie is the remake of the hit TV series released in 2019. The three leads from the TV show, Alice Ko, Greg Hsu and Patrick Shih will be reprising their roles in the movie.

This fantasy romance tells of a woman who is struggling to deal with the death of her boyfriend. She then receives a mysterious cassette that gives her the ability to travel back in time.

Can she change her late boyfriend’s fate? (Opens Jan 26)
