Taiwanese actor Jiang Changwen has died after falling from the 11th floor of his apartment building. He was 76 years old.

Although news of the actor’s death was reported on Jan 12, police stated that the incident occurred on Nov 16 last year.

According to Taiwanese media, police received a report at 11pm from one of the security guards on duty that night.

After conducting a thorough investigation, they found that the windows in Jiang’s apartment unit were wide open.

Additionally, Sin Chew reported that the actor had been suffering from a mental illness which required him to consume lots of medication. His death was eventually ruled as a suicide.

Jiang was popular in the 1970s. Among the projects he has worked on then include A Wisp Of Love, Love In The Sunset and Falling Wings.

He has worked with Taiwanese actress Chou Yu in multiple dramas. In an interview with Taiwanese media, Chou expressed devastation over the unexpected news.

"He (Jiang) is a very good person and a close friend. Whenever I get angry while filming, he will pat me on the shoulder to console me and hug me," she recalled.

Chou also revealed that she last heard from Jiang four to five months ago.
