Malaysian celebs Meerqeen and Anna Jobling rank in TC Candler’s 100 Most Handsome and Beautiful Faces 2022

Malaysian actors Meerqeen and Anna Jobling are among the world's Most Handsome and Beautiful Faces of 2022, according to the list of 100 names released by TC Candler last Wednesday (Dec 28).

They are the only Malaysians on the list.

Meerqeen, whose real name is Muhammad Shameer Shauqeen Shaiful Izam, placed at 55 on the list of 100 Most Handsome Faces.

Hailing from Ampang, the 21-year-old gained popularity after starring in the drama series, Angkara Cinta, where he worked with local artistes Wanna Ali and Hun Haqeem.

He also acted alongside Janna Nick in the drama adaptation of Suri Ryana’s novel, Marry Me Senorita.

Meanwhile, Jobling ranked at 84 on the list of 100 Most Beautiful Faces.

The 22-year-old kickstarted her acting career in 2020 after nabbing a supporting role in a Malaysian Netflix movie directed by Alan Teh, All Because Of You.

She received widespread attention last year after starring alongside Meerqeen in the popular drama series, Melur Untuk Firdaus – which recorded 823 million combined engagements across all social media platforms from the month of May to July 2022, according to analytics company Nielsen.

The 100 Most Beautiful Faces list was first created by professional film critic TC Candler and the Independent Critics in 1990 whereas the 100 Most Handsome Faces list was created in 2013.

Its purpose is to broaden public opinion by featuring an inclusive list of global sensations from all around the world.

British actor Henry Cavill, known for playing Superman, topped the list followed by Hwang Hyunjin of the South Korean boy band, Stray Kids, in second place and US actor Timothee Chalamet coming in third.

Other prominent names in the list include BTS' V in seventh place; Canadian singer Shawn Mendes in 40th; and British actor Tom Holland, who plays Spider Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, in 49th.

American model Jasmine Tooks topped the list for Most Beautiful Faces of 2022. Nancy of South Korean girl group, Momoland, came in second followed by Blackpink's Lisa in third place.

Other notable names listed include Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot in 12th, Blackpink's Jisoo in 13th place and Black Panther actress Lupita Nyong'o in 58th place.
