Hong Kong star Cecilia Cheung recently shared a selfie of herself with her father on Instagram. This came as a surprise to fans as the actress has had a tumultuous relationship with her dad.

"Only my old man can wake up as early as me. Feeling very awake (to) have breakfast with my dad in the morning," the 42-year-old actress wrote on her social media.

According to a Singaporean entertainment portal, the actress' dad, Cheung Ren Yong, is rumoured to be a triad member in Hong Kong who goes by the nickname, "Bearded Bravery".

8days.com reported that according to Hong Kong media, Ren Yong sought refuge in Malaysia in 1999 after failing to settle a huge gambling debt.

The loan sharks then threatened to harm Cecilia if Ren Yong failed to pay up. Cecilia had to sell off some of her properties to settle the debts.

Ren Yong and Cecilia's mum Davies Shally divorced when the actress was nine years old.

Cecilia reportedly also had a falling out with her mum but has since reconciled.

Several years ago, Cecilia paid tribute to her mum on her birthday, writing: "My dear mum, you're the superwoman in my heart. I'm very proud to have a good mother like you. I've always admired your passion for living the life you prefer. Continue to do what you love, I'm supporting you all the way. Thank you for imparting me with your strength and embedding it in my DNA. Of course, there's also the beauty that you gave me, I'm thankful for having you in my life."

Looks like all's well in the Cheung household.
