Johnny Depp is back to work – sort of.
The actor made a surprise appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, with his face edited onto a Moon Person hovering above the crowd at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, the United States.
"I needed the work," the Pirates Of The Caribbean star joked during the short segment.
Depp said he was available for "birthdays, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, weddings, wakes, any old thing you need."
In June, the 59-year-old Depp won a highly publicised defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard over an op-ed in which she described herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.”
The piece didn’t name Depp, but Heard had previously accused the actor of domestic violence which he denies.
A Virginia jury awarded Depp more than US$10mil. He had sued for US$50mil.
Heard was awarded US$2mil in a US$100mil counterclaim she filed over a Depp attorney who painted her abuse allegation as a hoax. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
