Since putting their past behind in 2020, Hong Kong movie stars Carina Lau and Rosamund Kwan appear to have become closer.

The two of them got together recently at a birthday party for Miriam Yeung’s husband, Real Ting.

A group photo posted by Real Ting on his Instagram shows Lau and Kwan standing close to each other, with Lau’s arms around Kwan.

Lau and Kwan were said to be friends for 20 years before they had a public falling out in 2015.

According to a report by Singapore’s Straits Times, this was tied to Kwan’s ex-husband Pierre Chen, a Taiwanese electronics billionaire.

The report detailed that Kwan and Chen dated for over seven years before getting married secretly in 2014. But Kwan announced they were separated just a year after the union.

The tiff between Lau and Kwan happened when Lau was spotted going on a hike with Chen prior to Kwan's break-up announcement, which irked Kwan.

Straits Times wrote what Kwan told reporters then: "Do (Lau and Chen) have any consideration for other people's feelings?"

A confused Lau apparently countered saying Kwan was being too “sensitive”, adding, "I don't even know if she's married or divorced, I don't think we're best friends".

From then on, it’s said the two celebrities had avoided each other at public events.

But in 2020, the two actresses posed for a photo together at an event – the first time they did so since 2015, which sparked the rumour that the two had decided to bury the hatchet.

A more recent report stated that Lau and Kwan have been meeting up from time to time.

Before Real Ting’s birthday party, they both had attended the opening of a restaurant. Here, they were seated at the same table, although not next to each other.
