Houston DJ Darian Lewis, who went by DJ D Baby, died July 13 after falling from the thirteenth-floor balcony of a high rise building nine days before, Fox 26 reported.

Lewis, 23, was named the official DJ for Houston rapper Monaleo late last year, tweeted a photo of her and Lewis on July 13 with the caption "I love you forever."

She was also named the official DJ for New Orleans rapper Treety late last year and was coming off a pair of packed performances at Pride events in Dallas and Miami in June when she fell to her death.

Lewis was at her girlfriend's apartment in the Camden Downtown Apartments building on Austin Street, Houston, Texas on July 4 around 5am, when she climbed onto a patio chair and fell to a ninth-floor pool deck.

Lewis' girlfriend Nishia Jackson said in a July 13 Facebook post that Lewis "was simply not in her right mind" on the night of her fall.

"She wanted to drive to her place & due to her intoxication I stood in front of the door. She ran to the patio (never in a million years would I have a reason to think that the next actions would follow)... once she climbed on the patio chair I sprinted from the door to her but she fell over before I could save her," Jackson explained in the post.

"We had issues like most however, I would never hurt her whom I love, nor anyone in such a manner," Jackson wrote.

Houston police told Fox 26 they are still investigating the DJ's death, but that the fall appears to have been a tragic accident.

"We're going to trust the system, and we're going to let them do their job," Lewis' father told Fox 26.

"I would just like to continue seeing some posts where they enjoyed being with her, and around her," said Lewis' mother Terri. – The Houston Chronicle/Tribune News Service
