Metallica’s members were rocked by the way Stranger Things incorporated one of their heavy metal hits.

The band said it was “beyond psyched” that the Netflix supernatural series featured the 1986 song Master Of Puppets during a key moment for Joseph Quinn’s character, Eddie, in the Season 4 finale.

“We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away... it’s so extremely well done, so much so, that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer!! How crazy cool is that?” reads a post on Metallica’s Instagram page Tuesday (July 5).

“It’s an incredible honour to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artistes featured in the show.”

Created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, the 1980s-set Stranger Things debuted the first seven episodes of Season 4 in May, before releasing the final two on Friday (July 1).

Earlier in the season, Kate Bush’s 1985 pop anthem Running Up That Hill garnered renewed attention through its inclusion on the show. The song recently reached No. 4 on the United States singles chart, and climbed to the top spot in Britain.

Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Noah Schnapp make up part of the sprawling ensemble cast of the show, which centres on mysterious phenomena that wreak havoc on the sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana.

The upcoming fifth season of Stranger Things, which doesn’t have a release date, will be the show’s last. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
