Singer-actress IU was at the Cannes Film Festival last month (May) for the screening of the film Broker, which is directed by Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda.
The 29-year-old is one of the movie’s main stars along with Song Kang-ho, Gang Dong-won, Lee Joo-young and Bae Doo-na.
During the festival, IU – also known by her full name Lee Ji-eun – was photographed in three different outfits.
On June 1, the pop star shared a video of her trying on five different dresses before going to the festival.
Out of the five, she picked one from her first day of dress fitting for the event.
Broker opened at South Korea on June 8.
A Korea Herald report highlighted IU talking about a challenging scene in Broker.
She said: “Since the director is Japanese, the script had swear words that did not seem natural for Koreans.
So, I asked if I could add some Korean swear words and the director allowed me to change it freely.
“This is the first time I‘ve performed lines with swear words. So, I practised them a lot at home and was very nervous before filming.”
