WATCH: Snoop Dogg, Joe Flizzow add superstar power to JDT's football anthem 'Pioneers'

Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club (JDT FC) is scoring both on and off the pitch.

The football club has released a new track Pioneers featuring the vocal talents of Malaysian artiste Joe Flizzow and US hip-hop star Snoop Dogg.

“Having a phenomenal hip-hop legend like Snoop Dogg to perform JDT’s 2022 official theme song with our Johorean artiste, Joe Flizzow is truly an amazing collaboration," Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, who is also the owner of JDT FC, said in a press statement.

This single is part of the club's branding strategy and it has chosen to collaborate with Universal Music South-East Asia and Def Jam Recordings SEA for this effort.

"We hope that Pioneers will mark the beginning of many more collaborations between JDT and Universal Music in the years to come,” Tunku Ismail said.

Kim Lim, managing director of Universal Music Malaysia added: “Artiste collaboration is one of the biggest creative forces driving music and brands today.

"The beauty of this unique partnership with JDT is that we can provide breakthrough opportunities for (a) local artiste and a homegrown brand with international superstar like Snoop Dogg."

The video for Pioneers was released on March 17 and features Joe and Snoop Dogg performing in the club's jersey as well as clips of the JDT team players and the home crowd at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri in Johor.

This is the second time Joe has collaborated with Snoop Dogg.

Last year, the Malaysian artiste was featured on the track, Alright, taken from the rapper's album, Snoop Dogg Presents Algorithm (The Global Edition).

Joe told StarLifestyle it was a dream come true to work with one of his all-time music heroes.

“Snoop Dogg is one of the reasons I’m rapping. He’s been a role model for me since day one and I’ve been a fan of Snoop Dogg since 1993," the 42-year-old said, adding that when he was a teenager, his nickname was "Joe Snoop".
