Singer Wang Leehom and his wife of eight years, Li Jinglei, have gone their separate ways.
Earlier today (Dec 15), Taiwanese magazine Mirror Media reported that Wang and Li have divorced.
When contacted by media, the singer's manager said: “As far as I know, there is no divorce.”
Later in the day, Wang went on Weibo and Facebook to confirm his divorce.
“Jinglei and I live very simple private lives so we will not be responding to any media queries. I’ve had too many shortcomings during my marriage these past few years, and I feel very regretful. Now, we have different ideas and plans for the future, so we have decided to live separate lives," the Mandopop singer wrote.
"Although we have already submitted the application, we will always be a family. We request for privacy and space from the outside world, do not disturb our family. Thank you for your concern,” he added.
Wang, 45, and Li, 35, married in 2013 and share three children – Jiali, seven; Jiana, five and Jiayao, three.
Speculations of trouble in their marriage started in April 2019 when Wang stopped sharing photos of his wife on his social media accounts.
According to the abovementioned magazine, Li couldn't get along with Wang's mother who managed his finances prior to his marriage. Li took over the reins when the couple tied the knot. The singer is said to worth NT$1bil (RM152mil).
Despite no knowledge in showbiz, Li was also involved in Wang's career, according to the report. This caused the singer to part ways with his management team.
