Fans of Harry Potter are all excited with the news that the cast members of the hit franchise are reuniting for a TV special on Jan 1, 2022.
What a great way to usher in the new year for the millions of Potter fans worldwide.
To whet fans' appetite for the upcoming Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts, HBO Go released a trailer as well as a first look photo featuring the three lead stars – Daniel Radcliffe who played the titular boy wizard, Rupert Grint who portrayed his best friend Ron and Emma Watson as the brainy Hermione.
The TV special, not unlike the recent reunion of the cast of sitcom Friends, will feature all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations.
“There’s magic in the air here with this incredible cast, as they all return home to the original sets of Hogwarts, where they began 20 years ago. The excitement is palpable as they prepare to take their fans on a very special and personal journey, through the making of these incredible films,” the show's executive producer Casey Patterson said in a press statement.
Other cast members who will also appear in the TV special include Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) and more. Author J.K. Rowling, however, will not participate in this special but will appear in archival footage.
The first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone, was released 20 years ago, on Nov 22, 2001.
The 20th anniversary celebration kick-started on Nov 29 with a game show hosted by Helen Mirren called Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament Of Houses. The four-episode show is currently streaming on HBO Go.
