Days after his body was found near his college campus in Pennsylvania, United States, the cause of death for former child actor Matthew Mindler has been determined to be suicide.
Though his official cause of death remains unclear as the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office is still awaiting toxicology results, they announced Monday (Aug 30) that Mindler, 19, died by suicide.
Mindler, who had been missing for days, was last seen leaving his dorm building at Millersville University shortly after 8pm last Tuesday (Aug 24). He was reported missing a night later after “he did not return to his room or return phone calls from his family,” school officials said at the time.
He was eventually found dead on Saturday (Aug 28) in the nearby Manor Township, according to People Magazine.
“A search had been underway for Matthew since Thursday, after he was reported missing. Millersville University Police and law enforcement agencies from the area had been searching for him since that time,” Millersville president Daniel Wubah said in a statement to the school community.
“This is a time of grief for the family, our campus and the community,” Wubah continued “I ask that the campus community come together to support each other, and our students, during this difficult time.”
Mindler had numerous acting credits to his name including in productions like As The World Turns, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, Chad: An American Body, and Our Idiot Brother. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
