Hitz FM Sarawak announcer DJ Yusuf has stepped down from his role after making fun of a science teacher's English.

Muhammad Yusuf Shukri or DJ Yusuf took to TikTok last week to mock a teacher's English pronunciation while she explained the human reproductive system on an educational TV programme.

Netizens then lambasted the radio announcer, prompting Hitz FM to suspend him from his duties while they investigate the matter.

The 29-year-old later posted an apology video on Instagram.

"It was not funny at all... It was very demeaning, disrespectful and distasteful of me to do such a video and for that I want to sincerely apologise to her," he said.

On Feb 22, Hitz FM announced that DJ Yusuf has resigned from his role.

“Hitz remains committed to keeping Malaysians informed and entertained. Following an internal inquiry into the recent controversy involving one of our announcers, we have accepted his resignation effective 22nd February 2021.”
