One of the most recognised voices in Malaysia is available to help you navigate the roads in the country. The latest celebrity to partner with GPS navigation software app Waze is the legendary Yasmin Yusoff.

With her soothing voice, Yasmin offers directions as well as safety tips in Bahasa Malaysia on the app. Don't be surprised when you hear familiar expressions like "Alamak, miss!" when you’ve missed the exit and “Lubang lagi” to warn you of a pothole ahead.

So, how did Yasmin get this gig?

In a press release, Yasmin shared: “I tend to get frustrated with the mispronunciation of our street names and thought - why not do something and voice them myself? As I happen to be a professional voiceover artist, and also the original voice of the LRT, I thought it would be fun to do Waze too!

"All it took was for me to offer my voice in the Waze Malaysia Facebook group, and before I knew it, I was contacted, did an audition tape, and voila – I’m the Bahasa voice of Waze!”

Yasmin, who has hosted many radio shows and acted in numerous TV dramas, added: “I only did turn-by-turn instructions this time, but maybe one day I can do the street names too."
