Local singer Poovaa is ushering Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations with a Sudirman tune.
On Aug 19, she put out her spin of the legendary singer's 1982 track Warisan, written by Syed Haron Syed Ahmad.
"We all think it’s a great song and wanted to produce our version to introduce it to the new generation of Malaysian music fans," she says in a press statement.
"The lyrics speak closely to my heart especially during this period of uncertainties when the love for our country is at its most crucial."
The 40-year-old is currently competing as Malaysia's representative on reality singing series Asian Dream.
She is slated to release her first Bahasa Malaysia-language single, Karya, next.
