Boboiboy: The Movie 2 has another reason to celebrate; it has been selected as finalist at the New York Animation Film Awards (NYAFA) and Florence Film Awards (FFA).

NYAFA is an annual film festival established by the Cinematography Awards Foundation of the United States, which aims to feature animated movies from around the world.

Meanwhile, the FFA is a monthly film festival which is held in Tuscany, Italy.

The news was announced on Monsta Studios’ official Instagram account following the nominations.

The NYAFA awards ceremony, which is one of the highlights of the festival, is set to take place on July 1 in New York City.

The FFA has yet to announce a date for its awards ceremony. However, it is likely that the event will be broadcast via Facebook Live, as all FFA ceremonies have been suspended since April.

Boboiboy: The Movie 2 previously won two awards in Russia’s Laurus Film Festival for Best Photo/Poster and Best Trailer/Teaser.

Released last year, the film – which tells the story of a teenage boy with superpowers who is fighting to protect Earth alongside his friends – is also one of the most successful Malaysian animated films to date, grossing RM29.5mil at the box office.

This makes it the second-highest grossing animation film after Ejen Ali: The Movie.
