YG Entertainment has confirmed that K-pop girl group Blackpink will be making a comeback in June.

It was originally reported by Korean news outlet Star News that the group had finished recording the music for an upcoming album. The report also stated that Blackpink is in the process of scheduling music video shoots to accompany the new songs.

On May 4, YG Entertainment released an official statement which read: “Blackpink is scheduled to make a June comeback. Once the exact date has been finalised, we will officially share the news with fans first. Thank you.”

YG added that Blackpink will repay their fans “with good music and positive news".

This will mark Blackpink’s first major comeback since Kill This Love in April 2019.

Despite being one of YG’s top selling acts, Blackpink's comeback has been delayed several times. This has caused fans to be frustrated and even urged the girls to leave its management.

The girl group continues to prove itself as a force to be reckoned with in the K-pop world; it is the only K-pop group to have three music videos (Kill This Love, Boombayah and DDU-DU DDU-DU) with over 800 million views on YouTube.

Its most recent accomplishment is securing a collaboration with Lady Gaga on the pop star’s highly anticipated album, Chromatica.
