No recording studio? No problem. Local artistes record #JanganKeluar with phones

Shila Amzah and Alvin Chong are among the 17 artistes who lent their voices on #JanganKeluar.

A new single, #JanganKeluar, was released on April 14, with the aim to discourage Malaysians from leaving their homes during the movement control order (MCO).

The 17 artistes featured on the song walked the talk by recording the song from their own homes.

Most of them used just their phones while only a handful of them had access to professional recording devices at home.

Some of the artistes involved include Shila Amzah, Alvin Chong, Sophia Liana and Hafiz Hamidun.

Universal Music Malaysia managing director Kenny Ong believes the message of the R&B-hip hop number is important not just during the MCO but after it has been lifted.

"Even after the MCO, the message of the song will still be relevant. I believe the idea of going out in big groups and attending large gatherings is still something we don't want to encourage," says Ong via teleconferencing with members of the media.

#JanganKeluar is composed and written by Yonnyboii, Kmy Kmo, Luca Sickta and Tuju.

On April 19, the 17 artistes will come together and hold an online concert to raise funds for Covid-19 frontliners and families who have lost their source of income during the MCO. Stream for free at Universal Music Malaysia's Youtube channel at 4pm.
