Hong Kong Cantopop icons Jacky Cheung and Eason Chan have joined a global star-studded cast for the One World Together At Home mega event this Saturday (April 18).

Hong Kong Cantopop icons Jacky Cheung and Eason Chan have joined a global star-studded cast for the One World Together At Home mega event this weekend (April 19, 0:00 GMT / Malaysian time: Sunday, April 19, 8am).

The duo joins an already star-studded lineup of international singers and musicians, which includes Taylor Swift, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Paul McCartney, Sam Smith, Alicia Keys, Elton John, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, The Killers, Celine Dion, Usher, Pharrell Williams, Stevie Wonder and many others.

Other Asian celebrities include Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang, South Korean pop group SuperM, Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi, Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka, Indian actors Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and composer Vishal Mishra.

Non-musicians who have also signed up include Oprah Winfrey, Hollywood stars Idris Elba, Samuel L. Jackson and Jack Black, sports stars Lewis Hamilton, Megan Rapinoe and David Beckham, and many more. The event will be hosted by television comedians Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.

Organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and advocacy group Global Citizen and curated by Lady Gaga, the 'One World Together at Home' event is a "global broadcast & digital special to support frontline healthcare workers and the WHO", and it will feature a combination of music, comedy and also stories from Covid-19 frontliners.

The organisers have already raised US$35mil (RM152mil) to help with the global pandemic crisis via the World Health Organization (WHO) Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

According to the official website, the special will run in two parts: a global multi-hour digital live-stream and a 2-hour linear broadcast. The linear broadcast of One World’ Together At Home will air on Saturday, April 18 from 8 p.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET on NBC, CBS, and ABC in the United States. The linear broadcast will also air in the UK on Sunday, April 19 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. BST on the BBC.

The digital stream will run from 2 p.m. ET to 8 p.m. ET on the following platforms: Alibaba, Amazon Prime Video, Apple, Facebook, Instagram, LiveXLive, Tencent, Tencent Music Entertainment Group, TIDAL, TuneIn, Twitch, Twitter, Yahoo, and YouTube.

The website also states that Malaysians can catch the show on April 19, 0:00 GMT (8am on Sunday, April 19, Malaysian time), and it will be available via the BEIN channel or online on several platforms.
