If you had missed last year's hit flick Paskal: The Movie on the big screen, you can now watch it on Netflix from March 15 onward. The film directed by Adrian Teh earned RM30.5mil at the box office, and features impressive action sequences on par with Hollywood productions.
Two of the three missions featured in the film are based on actual incidents – Operation Dawn 8: Gulf of Aden which took place in 2011, and a mission in 1998 when Paskal was part of the United Nations Angola Verification Mission II.
In interviews Teh said he was inspired to make the movie after hearing about Malaysia’s own special operations unit within the Royal Malaysian Navy that carry out highly-classified and highly-dangerous military operations called Paskal (Pasukan Khas Laut).
He said: “This movie is (a way) to pay tribute to the selflessness of Malaysian soldiers, and the operatives of this elite armed force, who put their lives on the line for us without asking for any reward in return.”
Paskal The Movie stars Hairul Azreen, Ammar Alfian, Namron, Eizlan Yusof, Henley Hii, Taufiq Hanafi, Gambit Saifullah, Theebaan G, Hafizul Kamal, Jasmine Suraya Chin, Amerul Affendi and Tiger Chen Hu.
Other Malaysian films available on Netflix are Pulang, Hantu Kak Limah, Rise: Ini Kalilah and One Two Jaga.
