Here’s your chance to meet iconic filmmaker Tim Burton in person at an exhibition of his career works in Kuala Lumpur!

Burton’s first-ever trip to Malaysia will be for the launch of The World Of Tim Burton at Pavilion Bukit Jalil on March 21. There will be a book-signing session for 100 VIP ticket holders that day, with the 64-year-old director as the headlining draw.

The World Of Tim Burton is a touring exhibition that brings together over 500 drawings, paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, moving-image work, puppets and sculptural installations that reflect the recurrent visual themes seen in Burton's distinctive characters and fantastical worlds.

It is currently showing at The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei, Taiwan before heading to Kuala Lumpur next month.

Beetlejuice? Edward Scissorhands? The Nightmare Before Christmas, Big Fish, Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd?

You know all these films. Now, you can immerse yourself into these fantasy worlds, through this international touring exhibition.

The interplay between horror and humour figures prominently in Burton’s art and films and this theme of the “carnivalesque” - the mixture between comedy and the grotesque - is seen in projects from Batman to Alice In Wonderland (2010).

Perhaps his most notable and well-known motif, the soulful melancholy of Burton’s iconic misunderstood outsiders - from Edward Scissorhands and Jack Skellington to the Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie - is deftly expressed in the drawings featured in the exhibition.

The World Of Tim Burton has 10 thematic backdrops that span Burton's five-decade career and offers a glimpse into his creativity and artistic spirit. There is also a replica of his personal studio, where visitors will be able to take a sneak peek at some of his current projects, including the recent TV series Wednesday.

This upcoming KL show is its first visit to South-East Asia.

The VIP ticket package, priced at RM1,500, includes The Art Of Tim Burton book, a book signing with Burton, season passes to the exhibition and limited edition merchandise.

VIP tickets to meet Burton go on sale Feb 25 at noon, here. Only 100 tickets are available.

The exhibition will be held from March 21 to July 30 at Pavilion Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur.
