Auction house Christie's recently announced record sales of US$8.4bil (approximately RM37.1bil) in 2022, outshining its rival Sotheby's, which also posted its best-ever result at US$8bil (RM35.4bil) for the year.

Christie's racked up US$7.2bil (RM32bil) in auctions and another US$1.2bil (RM5.3bil) in private sales, easily topping the US$7.1bil (RM31.4bil) it made in 2021 as the art world emerged from the Covid-19 pandemic, which greatly hindered auction operations.
