Michael Veerapen pays tribute to Lady Day, B.B. King

Michael Veerapen

If jazz siren Billie Holiday were alive today, she’d be 100 years old this year, and this centenary has been marked on jazz calendars the world over. Holiday was born on April 7, 1915 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US. She’s the latest in line to join the “100 Club,” which includes jazz greats like Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong.

Kuala Lumpur live venue No Black Tie (NBT) pays tribute to the voice behind timeless nuggets like Summertime, Gloomy Sunday, God Bless The Child and What A Little Moonlight Can Do, on May 29 and 30 in an intimate session which sees jazz stalwart Michael Veerapen tickling the ivories with his trio and backing a slew of singers.
