When Christina Toh, founder and designer of Shinju Pearls Sdn bhd, was seven, her father who worked for a Japanese company at the time received Akoya pearls as a gift for his wife, Chee Kam Yew.

Though very young, Christina fell in love with pearls instantly making them her compulsory accessory, much to her mother’s amusement.
