KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) recorded sales of more than 24,500 vehicles in the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2026, bringing its year-to-date sales to over 60,800 units.

In a statement, the company said its 3Q26 performance came amid an evolving automotive market, characterised by growing interest in electrified vehicles and rising customer expectations for convenience and after-sales services.

UMWT president Datuk Ravindran K. said the company remained focused on strengthening the ownership experience through reliability, convenience and customer support.

“Our third quarter performance reflects the continued trust Malaysians place in Toyota and the strength of the ownership experience we have built over the years.

“As the market evolves, our focus remains clear. We want every customer to feel confident in their choice, supported in their journey, and assured that Toyota delivers value long after they leave the showroom,” he said.

UMWT said it was also expanding access to electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure through partnerships with chargEV and JomCharge as part of its Multi-Pathway approach to electrified mobility.

The initiative will see 42 public EV charging points installed across 21 Toyota and Lexus locations nationwide, with a phased rollout scheduled for the first half of 2027.

Of the total, 38 charging points across 19 locations will be provided through chargEV, while another four charging points across two locations will be operated through JomCharge.

To date, seven sites have been completed, with the remaining locations to be rolled out in stages.

The charging facilities will be open to all EV brands, with participating locations accessible through the respective charging operators' mobile applications.

Meanwhile, UMWT said it was encouraging greater use of digital services through its Toyota MY App campaign, which runs from Sept 14 to Dec 31, 2026.
