Lianson Fleet acquires bulk carrier for RM93.9mil

PETALING JAYA: Lianson Fleet Group Bhd (LFG) has acquired a bulk carrier, LFG Cengal for RM93.9mil from an unrelated third-party incorporated in Japan.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, LFG said the vessel is a Japanese-built Ultramax bulk carrier built in May 2013 with a deadweight tonnage of 61,446 tonnes, gross tonnage of 34,794 tonnes and net tonnage of 20,209 tonnes.

“Measuring 199.98 metres in length overall with a beam of 32.24 metres and moulded depth of 18.60 metres, the vessel is equipped with five cargo holds and five cargo hatches.”

LFG said the vessel acquisition is in line with its strategy to expand its marine transportation fleet and diversify beyond the offshore support vessel business segment.

“The vessel will strengthen the group’s recurring income stream with its long-term charter potential and utilisation, thereby enhancing earnings visibility.

“Demand and charter rates for bulk carriers remain robust, supported by regional trade flows of bulk cargo and commodities.”
