KUALA LUMPUR: Budget 2027 is expected to strengthen the pipeline of companies seeking to raise funds through the capital market, as measures to support business expansion and industrial upgrading help more Malaysian firms prepare for potential listings.
Bursa Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Fad’l Mohamed said the budget’s initiatives would enable local companies to build capabilities, expand their market reach and pursue larger business opportunities, creating a stronger pool of potential issuers for the stock exchange.
“Investments to accelerate the growth of local semiconductor companies to higher value segments and funding for mid-tier companies across sectors such as electronic and electrical, aerospace, digital and medical devices will deepen Malaysia’s industrial and technology capabilities and prepare more businesses to tap the capital market as they grow,” he said in a commentary on Budget 2027.
Fad’l said investments by government-linked investment companies or GLICs to support bumiputra companies would also help enterprises develop their capabilities and expand their businesses, potentially paving the way for more public listings.
He added that financing guarantees for mergers and acquisitions or M&A would enable companies to expand, strengthen their market positions and attract investor interest.
The proposed matching grant for listing costs under the Malaysia-Hong Kong dual-listing pathway would further support companies seeking access to new pools of investors, while strengthening connectivity between the two capital markets.
Fad’l said Bursa Malaysia remained focused on ensuring the capital market continued to support Malaysian companies and investors while contributing to the country’s economic development.
