Budget 2027 measures to strengthen pipeline of companies seeking listing, says Bursa Malaysia

Bursa Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Fad’l Mohamed.

PETALING JAYA: Bursa Malaysia Bhd expects measures announced under Budget 2027 to strengthen the pipeline of Malaysian companies seeking public-market financing as they expand their businesses.

Its chief executive officer Datuk Fad’l Mohamed said the measures would enable Malaysian companies to build capabilities, expand their market reach and pursue larger opportunities.

“Investments to accelerate the growth of local semiconductor companies to higher value segments and funding for mid-tier companies across sectors such as electronic and electrical, aerospace, digital and medical devices will deepen Malaysia’s industrial and technology capabilities and prepare more businesses to tap the capital market as they grow,” he said in a statement.

He said government-linked investment company (GLIC) investments aimed at supporting Bumiputera companies would facilitate capability development and business expansion, preparing more enterprises for eventual public listing.

Financing guarantees for mergers and acquisitions would also enable firms to expand, strengthen their market positions and attract investor interest.

Meanwhile, Fad’l said the proposed matching grant for listing costs under the Malaysia-Hong Kong dual-listing pathway would support companies seeking to reach new pools of investors while strengthening connectivity between both capital markets.

"As Bursa Malaysia marks its 50th anniversary, our focus remains on ensuring a vibrant and accessible capital market that continues to support the next generation of Malaysian companies and investors, while contributing to the country's long-term economic aspirations," he said.
