NEW YORK: Blue Origin LLC is likely to pursue an initial public offering within the next several years, after raising billions of dollars in its first outside funding round, billionaire founder Jeff Bezos says.

“I see the financial future of Blue with some clarity now,” Bezos, who also founded Amazon.com Inc, told Fox News at the company’s Florida factory.

After its fundraising round, it “probably makes sense for Blue Origin to be a public company at some point”, Bezos said, adding it wouldn’t happen until “several years from now”.

Bezos has bankrolled the company since its founding, funneling US$28bil into its rockets, spacecraft and other initiatives.

The company recently raised US$10bil from outside investors, and may take more, Bezos said. — Bloomberg
