KUALA LUMPUR: HI Mobility Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary, Handal Indah Sdn Bhd, has received a letter of intent (LOI) from the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) for its proposed appointment as network operator under the Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme in Johor Bahru.

In a statement, the group said the proposed appointment would cover the period from Jan 1, 2027, to March 31, 2031.

It said the non-binding LOI would allow Handal Indah to engage with APAD, an agency under the Transport Ministry, on its continued participation in the programme.

The service scope, contractual terms, contract value and other relevant matters have yet to be finalised and would be subject to further discussions before the issuance of any letter of acceptance.

HI Mobility executive director and chief executive officer Lim Chern Chuen said the group would continue working with the government and relevant stakeholders on Johor Bahru's public transport requirements.

“With Johor Bahru continuing to strengthen its position as a major economic and connectivity hub, the development of an efficient and well-connected public transport network will become increasingly important,” he said.

“We remain committed to working constructively with the government and relevant stakeholders to support Johor Bahru’s evolving mobility needs, and look forward to progressing the discussions with APAD."

As at July 31, 2026, HI Mobility operated a fleet of 921 buses, including 65 electric buses.
