BSN appoints Zukri Samat as new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) has appointed Datuk Seri Dr Zukri Samat as its new chairman, effective Oct 12, 2026, succeeding Datuk Seri Dr Awang Adek Hussin.

In a statement, the bank said Zukri brought extensive experience in financial services, Islamic banking, asset management and public institutions.

He most recently served as chairman of Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) from Nov 1, 2023, to Oct 31, 2025.

"His previous roles include board member of the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), group managing director and chief executive officer of Lembaga Tabung Haji, and managing director of Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd.

"He was also managing director of Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd, where he played a pivotal role in financing restructuring and recovery efforts during the Asian Financial Crisis," it said. - Bernama
