KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Ipoh Mall has secured an 80% leasing commitment ahead of its scheduled opening in the fourth quarter of 2027.
In a statement, Sunway Malls said the RM1bil mall will have 1.2 million sq ft of net lettable area across four retail floors, housing about 400 shops.
Sunway Malls said about 100 brands, or 25% of the mall's shops, would be making their debut in Perak. Among the tenants are MUJI, LC Waikiki, Decathlon, Harvey Norman, JD Sports, Padini, Popular and UNIQLO.
The mall's seven anchor tenants are Parkson Elite, Village Grocer, TGV Cinemas, MR D.I.Y. Plus, Sunway Ice Rink, Sunway Ipoh Exhibition Centre and Sunway Megalanes.
Sunway Malls group managing director HC Chan said the leasing commitment reflected demand for retail space in Ipoh.
“The 80% leasing commitment ahead of opening reflects the demand we are seeing for quality retail space in Ipoh. While Perak has an established consumer and tourism base, there remains considerable room for a large-scale retail destination with the right mix of brands, dining, leisure and experiences.
“Sunway Ipoh Mall allows us to address that opportunity while giving our business partners access to a market that remains relatively underserved,” he said.
Sunway Malls currently has an occupancy rate of 98% across its 11-mall portfolio. It recorded a 5% year-on-year increase in sales in the first half of 2026.
Sunway Ipoh Mall forms part of the 1,350-acre Sunway City Ipoh township, which currently has a gross development value (GDV) of RM2bil, with another RM4bil of development planned over the next 10 to 15 years.
The mall will include an ice-skating rink, a 36-lane bowling centre, sports facilities, an exhibition centre and a 10-hall cinema with about 1,500 seats. It will also have 2,950 parking bays, including 100 electric vehicle charging bays.
Sunway Malls currently owns and manages 11 malls and has five more in its development pipeline over the next three years.
