Axiata CEO Nik Rizal appointed to GSMA Board

KUALA LUMPUR: Axiata Group Bhd group chief executive officer and managing director Nik Rizal Kamil has been appointed to the board of the GSM Association (GSMA) for a two-year term beginning January 2027.

The GSMA is a global organisation representing mobile operators and companies across the digital ecosystem, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and technology partners to advance digital inclusion, spectrum access, modern regulation, privacy, sustainability and innovation.

In a statement today, Axiata said Nik Rizal’s appointment reinforces the group’s longstanding leadership in the global mobile industry and continues its legacy of contributing to the GSMA’s leadership and agenda.

"I am honoured to serve on the GSMA Board at a pivotal time for our industry, where mobile connectivity has evolved from a communications service into a powerful driver of economic growth, digital inclusion and innovation,” Nik Rizal said. - Bernama
