KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign institutions were net sellers for the second straight week with net outflows of RM799.9mil during the week, according to MBSB Investment Bank in its weekly fund flow report.
"Foreign institutions were net sellers on all five trading days. The highest outflows were recorded on Wednesday (-RM228.4m), followed by Thursday (-RM187.9m), Tuesday (-RM172.4m), Monday
(-RM142.1m) and Friday (-RM69.1m)," it said.
The top three sectors that recorded net inflows from foreign institutions were technology at RM131.0 million, energy at RM93.2 million, and construction at RM78.4 million.
Conversely, the top three sectors that recorded net foreign outflows were financial services at RM460.6 mil, utilities at RM339.8mil and healthcare at RM163.1mil, it said.
Meanwhile, local institutions recorded net inflows of RM352.4mil last week.
Retailers also extended their net buying streak, marking the sixth consecutive week of net inflows with RM447.5mil.
The average daily trading volume (ADTV) saw a broad-based increase, with retailers up 3.7%, local institutions down 7.9%, and foreign institutions rising 8.6%.
