KUALA LUMPUR: Battersea Power Station has recorded 50 million visitors since opening to the public in October 2022, as the London development moves into the next phase of its redevelopment.
The 42-acre development, backed by Malaysian shareholders S P Setia Bhd, Sime Darby Property Bhd
and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), currently has more than 2,200 homes, about 800,000 sq ft of office space and over 170 shops, restaurants, bars and leisure outlets.
Its London Underground station has recorded 38 million journeys since opening five years ago.
Battersea Power Station said more than 20 new retail, dining and leisure brands are expected to have been added during 2026.
In a statement, Battersea Power Station Development Company chief executive officer James Saunders said the development was about halfway through the delivery of its wider masterplan.
“The arrival of another wave of exciting brands reflects the continued confidence in Battersea Power Station and what we are creating here. These new openings will add even more to the breadth and quality of the experience, giving people new reasons to visit and return.
“This milestone is even more significant given we are only around halfway through delivering the wider masterplan. There is so much more to come as we shape the next chapter of Battersea Power Station,” he said.
A planning application has been submitted for a revised masterplan covering the remaining 16 acres of undeveloped land.
The proposal provides for up to 3.2 million sq ft of new homes, workspace, cultural, leisure and community space.
Construction is also underway on Prospect Place South, which will comprise about 300 homes, 65,000 sq ft of commercial space and a 15,000 sq ft community hub.
Planning approval has also been granted for 200 council homes on another part of the development in partnership with Wandsworth Council.
More than £5bil has been invested in the Battersea Power Station development by its Malaysian shareholders to date.
EPF and Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) are the long-term commercial asset holders of the Power Station.
