Foreign investors turn net sellers on Bursa with RM473.1mil outflow


KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign investors reverted to net selling on Bursa Malaysia after a week of inflows, recording net outflows of RM473.1mil, according to MBSB Research.

In its weekly fund flow report, MBSB Research said foreign institutions were net buyersa on only one of the five trading days during the week, with the sole inflow of RM20.4mil recorded on Tuesday.

The largest outflow was recorded on Wednesday at RM230.7mil, followed by Friday at RM132.8mil, Thursday at RM109.3mil and Monday at RM20.7mil.

The top three sectors recording net foreign inflows were energy at RM104mil, technology at RM64.8mil and transport and logistics at RM25.2mil.

In contrast, utilities saw the largest net foreign outflow at RM289.2mil, followed by financial services at RM162.5mil and healthcare at RM152.3mil.

Local institutions snapped a two-week net selling streak, recording net inflows of RM384mil, while local retailers extended their net buying streak to five consecutive weeks with net inflows of RM89mil.

Average daily trading volume (ADTV) declined across all investor groups, falling 3.3% among retailers, 12% among local institutions and 36.3% among foreign institutions.
