Malaysia's total palm oil stocks rise 7.48% to 2.82mil tonnes in August - MPOB


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s total palm oil stocks rose by 196,590 tonnes, or 7.48 per cent, to 2.82 million tonnes in August 2026 from 2.62 million tonnes a month earlier, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).

MPOB said crude palm oil (CPO) stocks increased 15.20 per cent, or 217,092 tonnes, to 1.64 million tonnes in August 2026 from 1.42 million tonnes in July 2026.

"However, processed palm oil stockpiles eased 1.71 per cent to 1.17 million tonnes from 1.19 million tonnes in July,” it said in its Malaysian Palm Oil Industry, August 2026, performance report.

On production, MPOB said CPO output increased 1.39 per cent, or 24,903 tonnes, to 1.81 million tonnes from 1.79 million a month earlier, while palm kernel output also rose 1.97 per cent month-on-month to 430,599 tonnes from 422,272 tonnes.

Crude palm kernel oil production increased 0.10 per cent to 199,589 tonnes from 199,392 tonnes in July, while palm kernel cake output climbed 0.25 per cent to 215,847 tonnes from 215,304 tonnes.

MPOB said palm oil exports declined 7.50 per cent in August 2026 to 1.29 million tonnes from 1.39 million tonnes a month earlier. Palm kernel oil exports rose by 37.22 per cent to 112,879 tonnes from 82,261 tonnes a month ago. Palm kernel cake exports also expanded by 6.45 per cent to 216,584 tonnes from 203,454 tonnes.

Meanwhile, oleochemical exports fell 12.72 per cent to 233,545 tonnes from 267,576 tonnes in July, while biodiesel exports surged by 22.59 per cent to 35,240 tonnes from 28,745 tonnes last month.

MPOB reported zero CPO imports in August. Processed palm oil and palm oil were both down 0.09 per cent to 49,524 tonnes from 49,566 tonnes in July. August's palm kernel oil imports rose 21.14 per cent to 13,985 tonnes, from 11,545 tonnes in the preceding month. - Bernama
