Theta Edge unit wins Prasarana network operator contract

PETALING JAYA: Theta Edge Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary, Theta Telecoms Sdn Bhd (TTEL), has been appointed as a network operator and strategic partner by Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd for the development of a telecommunications common network infrastructure along the Shah Alam Line right of way.

Theta Edge said TTEL accepted the letter of acceptance from Prasarana on Sept 7, with the initial contract running for five years from Sept 1, 2026. The agreement may be renewed for two successive five-year periods, subject to performance reviews.

Under the project, TTEL will undertake network design and engineering, civil works, fibre-optic cable installation, network integration and equipment installation, as well as provide telecommunications services and generate revenue.

Prasarana will receive a minimum RM500,000 a year or 13% of the project’s gross revenue, whichever is higher, with the balance retained by TTEL.

Theta Edge said the project would leverage its existing expertise while creating recurring income and cash flow, supported by anticipated growth in data demand along the Shah Alam Line.

The project will be funded through internally generated funds or borrowings.
