Some AirAsia flights may face cancellations due to haze


Analysts have maintained a positive outlook despite market concerns over geopolitical tensions and weakness in AirAsia X Bhd’s share price.

KUALA LUMPUR: Some AirAsia flights may be cancelled due to the reduced visibility brought about by the haze across parts of East Malaysia and West Kalimantan. 

In a travel advisory released today, AirAsia said affected guests will be notified directly.  However, the airline did not mention which flights were affected. 

"Guests are encouraged to check their flight status via the MOVE app or airasia.com/flightstatus for the latest updates,” it said. 

The announcement comes after His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, consented to the declaration of an emergency throughout Sarawak’s Serian Division after worsening haze pushed air pollution to a level hazardous to public health and safety.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement today that the decision was made after considering advice from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and relevant agencies on air quality in the area.

Separately, Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air Malaysia said none of their flights would be suspended due to the haze. - Bernama
