Key ASIC, CT Vision plan 300MW green AI data centre in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Key Asic Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hong Kong-listed CT Vision (International) Holdings Ltd to jointly develop and construct a large-scale green artificial intelligence (AI) data centre in Malaysia.

“The proposed project aims to integrate green energy infrastructure with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) computing capabilities,” Key ASIC said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

The project targets an aggregate information technology (IT) load capacity of about 300 megawatts (MW) within five years from its commercial operation date, with at least 50% of its energy coming from green sources.

It is designed to achieve a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of no more than 1.20.

Under the MOU, Key ASIC will utilise its energy-efficient chip technology, chip design capabilities, power-management solutions and technical know-how to support the planning, design, construction, deployment and operation of the data centre, as well as energy-efficiency optimisation.

CT Vision, which is listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong stock exchange, has experience in international financing and new energy technologies, including solar, wind, natural gas and biomass.

Key ASIC said the project is expected to generate recurring income over the next few years.

The MOU has an initial term of 10 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement. Detailed commercial and technical terms, including pricing and payment schedules, will be governed by separate agreements.

Key ASIC cautioned that there is no assurance all aspects of the project will be implemented as contemplated under the MOU, as detailed arrangements remain subject to subsequent agreements.
