KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia has warned the public against deepfake advertisements circulating online that impersonate its governor.
The central bank urged the public not to be deceived by the fraudulent content and to verify any suspicious information before acting on it.
“Do not be fooled by deepfake advertisements online impersonating the Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia,” Bank Negara said in a social media post.

Bank Negara has been raising awareness of scams and urged the public to exercise caution when encountering suspicious content online.
