KUALA LUMPUR: EP Manufacturing Bhd
(EPMB) has opened a new RM9.5mil chassis component assembly facility in Tanjong Malim to produce components for selected Proton models.
In a statement, EPMB said the facility, operated by Peps Sanly JV Sdn Bhd – EPMB’s joint venture (JV) with China-based Sanly Auto Parts Co Ltd – is located in the Automotive High Technology Valley.
EPMB said the 9,909 sq m facility, which began operations in October 2025, has a production capacity of 40,000 car sets a month, or up to 480,000 sets annually.
It will manufacture front corner modules, subframe modules and rear axle module assemblies for the Proton AMA01, Persona and Iriz, as well as the upcoming AMA02 and AMA05 models.
EPMB formalised its JV with Sanly in February 2025 to localise the manufacturing of chassis components, initially for the Proton Saga AMA01.
Executive chairman Hamidon Abdullah said the partnership would help strengthen EPMB’s supply chain by tapping Sanly’s expertise in metalworking, assembly and automotive chassis systems.
“By working with Sanly, which has strong ties to Geely and other Chinese original equipment manufacturers, we gain direct exposure to China’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem and its competitive cost structures. This positions us to support Proton with enhanced cost efficiency and quality assurance,” he said.
