eTRADE 2.0 generates RM438.7mil export sales

Matrade said the achievement demonstrates that cross-border eCommerce is increasingly becoming a key driver of Malaysia’s export growth.

KUALA LUMPUR: The eTRADE 2.0 programme has successfully helped Malaysian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) generate RM438.7 million in real export sales and penetrate 163 international markets during its implementation from 2021 to 2025.

In a statement yesterday, Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) said the achievement demonstrates that cross-border eCommerce is increasingly becoming a key driver of Malaysia’s export growth.

Matrade said its programme has benefited over 2,000 MSMEs through grants, training, technical guidance, and capacity-building to help local companies leverage digital platforms to reach global markets.

It said the findings were based on the Impact Study of the eTRADE 2.0 Programme conducted by UKM Pakarunding Sdn Bhd, which included surveys of grant recipients, stakeholder interviews, and analyses of export sales performance, entry into new markets, use of cross-border eCommerce platforms, and the digital readiness of companies.

“Among the most notable achievements is the success of grant recipients in penetrating 163 export markets, including less common markets such as Reunion Island, Kiribati, and Nauru.

“Asean remains the primary export destination, with approximately 30% of incentive recipients successfully strengthening their regional positions,” it said. — Bernama
