KUALA LUMPUR: CGC Digital, the fintech subsidiary of Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd (CGC), has partnered with Credit Bureau Malaysia (CBM) to help Malaysian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) better understand their credit standing and improve their readiness to secure financing.

In a statement, CGC said the collaboration, formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), combines CGC Digital's digital platforms and MSME ecosystem with CBM's expertise in credit information and risk analytics.

Under the partnership, the two organisations will explore the development of credit risk models and analytical solutions to improve understanding of MSME financing needs and strengthen decision-making across the financing ecosystem.

The collaboration will also explore joint education and outreach initiatives, using both organisations' networks to reach a wider group of business owners and raise awareness of the financing and credit-information support available to them.

CGC Digital chief executive officer Yushida Husin said many MSMEs face challenges not only in obtaining financing but also in understanding their own credit position and identifying suitable financing solutions.

"By pairing CBM's credit insights with the reach of our digital platforms, we can help more business owners see clearly where they stand and take practical steps to become financing-ready," she said.

Credit Bureau Malaysia chief executive officer Soo Chin Kang said the collaboration combines the strengths of both organisations to support entrepreneurship and strengthen Malaysia's MSME sector.

He said the partnership reflects a shared ambition to unlock greater economic value while contributing to a more inclusive and resilient economy.

CGC Digital said the partnership forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen its digital financing ecosystem through strategic collaborations, while continuing to improve access to financing, credit insights and practical tools for underserved and unserved MSMEs.
