WASHINGTON: Boeing Co is working through supplier logjams, including with aircraft interiors and engines for its 787 Dreamliner as the US planemaker drives to ramp up production of its money-making models.
In addition, the certification of seats and the supplies of engines from GE Aerospace for the 787 Dreamliner are bottlenecks that are delaying deliveries and could push back plans to ramp up that model.
“The supply chain is still a little bit volatile,” Stephanie Pope, the head of Boeing’s commercial aeroplane unit, told a media briefing on Sunday ahead of the Farnborough International Airshow.
“Propulsion is going to be a pacing item for us.”
Furthermore, the US planemaker is also driving to hike output of its cash cow 737 aircraft family from around 42 jets a month currently to 63 over several years. — Bloomberg
