KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Singapore will finalise the master plan for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) in the near future and welcome the progress made on the initiative, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said he paid a courtesy call on Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, during which they exchanged views on Malaysia-Singapore relations, regional developments, and various issues of mutual interest. Tharman is on a three-day state visit to Malaysia from July 13 to 15 at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
"Our discussions also touched on the positive progress in efforts to resolve several outstanding matters. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue resolving any remaining issues through constructive negotiations, guided by the spirit of mutual respect and understanding that we have jointly agreed upon,” he said in a post on social media platform X today.
Anwar also expressed hope that Malaysia-Singapore relations would continue to be strengthened based on trust, mutual respect, and shared benefits for the prosperity and wellbeing of the people of both countries. - Bernama
