Enest remains upbeat on bird's nest industry


KUALA LUMPUR: Enest Group Bhd remains optimistic about the outlook for the edible bird's nest industry, underpinned by growing demand in Malaysia and China.

“Enest remains encouraged by the prospects of the edible bird’s nest industry in Malaysia and China, supported by rising disposable incomes, growing awareness of the health benefits of edible bird’s nest, and the continued development of downstream processed bird’s nest products,” the high-purity edible bird’s nest processor and trader said in a statement.

In the first quarter ended March 31 (1Q26), Enest posted a net profit of RM2.04mil, or earnings per share of 0.35 sen on revenue of RM42.1mil.

No comparative figures are available as this is Enest's first interim financial report ahead of its ACE Market listing on July 15, 2026.

Enest said the gross profit margin, profit before tax margin and profit after tax margin stood at 10.1%, 6.3% and 5.1%, respectively.

The group's bird's nest segment generated RM41.31mil, accounting for 98.1% of total revenue, led by the processing and sale of raw clean edible bird's nest at RM27.42mil, followed by bird's nest trading at RM13.65mil.

Processed bird's nest products contributed RM250,000, while the health and personal care and rental segments generated RM760,000 and RM400,000, respectively.

China remained the group's largest market, contributing RM27.42mil, followed by Malaysia at RM14.65mil, while Australia accounted for the remaining RM400,000.

As at March 31, 2026, Enest's total equity stood at RM53.99mil, with cash and cash equivalents of RM28.24mil.

“Our 1Q26 results reflect steady demand for our edible bird’s nest products and the continued contribution of our core bird’s nest business.

“Moving forward, we remain focused on strengthening our production processes to further enhance operational efficiency and profitability, while continuing to support customer demand across our key markets,” managing director Tan Teh Jie said.
