PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Muhammad Ikmal Opat Abdullah, the single-largest shareholder of Widad Group Bhd
, has resigned as the group’s executive deputy chairman.
In a bourse filing, Widad cited “personal commitment” as the reason behind Muhammad Ikmal’s resignation effective yesterday.
The 58-year-old Muhammad Ikmal owns about 13.6% equity interest in Widad, both directly and indirectly.
He was appointed as the deputy chairman in July 2024.
Widad, a two-sen penny stock, currently has a market capitalisation of just over RM62mil.
Muhammad Ikmal took control of Widad in 2018, after his private vehicle, Widad Business Group Sdn Bhd, completed a reverse takeover of industrial labels manufacturer Ideal Jacobs (M) Corp Bhd, which was subsequently renamed Widad Group.
