KUALA LUMPUR: Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd has launched the BizSmart® Challenge Accelerator Edition 2026, offering up to RM2 million in cash prizes to accelerate the next group of high-potential small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups in the country.

The bank said winners are also entitled to brand exposure and business training, alongside up to RM20 million in preferential-rate financing to propel SMEs forward.

Its group chief executive officer, Kellee Kam, said that despite the ongoing global geopolitical uncertainties, the challenge serves as a platform for startup companies and SMEs to hone their skills under pressure.

"So in times like this, participants have coaching sessions and mentorship programmes.

"That is very important, because it teaches founders and startups to be able to come together and overcome challenges," he told a press conference after the launching ceremony here today.

To date, Alliance Bank said the challenge has awarded more than RM6.2 million in cash prizes and extensive media exposure, and has helped over 185 businesses by equipping them with the capital and strategic mentorship needed to scale and compete more effectively in their sectors.

This year, Kam said the bank is expanding the challenge even further, with a sharper focus on what businesses need most, namely access to investment and capital support, alternative funding opportunities beyond traditional banking, accelerated development programmes and coaching to strengthen business capabilities.

"We have also expanded eligibility to reach a broader pool of high-potential SMEs this year for greater brand exposure to help businesses grow their visibility.

"And of course, the return of the ultimate elevator pitch, where entrepreneurs have just 60 seconds to convince our judges that their business deserves a golden opportunity," he said in his speech.

In conjunction with the challenge, Alliance Bank will also host the third edition of the BizSmart® Business Conference on Oct 6, 2026.

Themed "From Local Champions to National Icons”, the intensive one-day event celebrates homegrown journeys with national impact, uniting entrepreneurs, business owners and decision-makers.

"Attendees will gain actionable insights on digital disruption, market volatility and brand-building from industry founders, seasoned investors and successful alumni.

"In celebration of World MSME Day, a limited-time promotion offers tickets for RM99 from June 22 to 28, 2026," it said in a statement.

The BizSmart® Challenge Accelerator Edition 2026 is open to Malaysian-registered SMEs and startups across all industries and sectors.

Eligible businesses must have been operating locally for between one and 10 years, with an annual sales turnover ranging from RM500,000 to RM40 million. Interested SMEs can submit their applications from now until Aug 2, 2026.
